Silence

Silence.

This is what she perceives.

For the nth time this month, the phone line is a battlefield. All she's been doing for the past hour is to preach. Preach about my shortcomings. Preach on how she's been working her ass to save our relationship. Preach on how my Silence is hurting us both.

She says she's been doing all the talking.

What are you, mute or something?

Sure.

Why can't you talk about it?

Talk?

You're not helping me. Can't you even defend yourself?

The agony goes on.

...

After a while, I give up on her. It's then I stop talking.

I realize that Silence isn't in the absence of speech, but in the absence of hearing.

[inspired by a true event which happened months ago]

The reader completes the text.

And I've not only heard this, listened to this, or read this.

You know you've written something good when it has resonated with someone there, inside of him.

I don't think how well I can relate to it counts, though. Wait for the next reader. =P

- The last line breaks my inner silence!!! I have to shout that this is my most favorite article the author has written. I dunno why did literary editor of our paper litter this inkblob.
- The moral lesson is to breathe before you trash talk. A pause is sometimes a silence that is nice to hear.

if you were in a conversation, you were expected to give feedback (at some point) ..

c-chan:
thank god for that line, and lines like "the artists discovers his genius when he dares to please only himself." hindi contradictory pero related.

jonas:
'A pause is sometimes a silence that is nice to hear.'
yeah, silence is a nice sanctuary.

rmacapobre:
i think it was stresed somewhere at the end, as a revelation, that the supposedly silent one stops talking. i believe there was feedback. but there was, as it was mentioned, he absence of hearing.
